The Long Walk to Capital Palette Pt. 1: Research and Development

by Dr. Schemes on January 15, 2022January 14, 2022

It’s a new year and as is customary for all minipainters on Instagram I hopped on the yearly bandwagon and made a collage post showing some of best pieces I did in 2021. After doing said bandwagon post I became aware of something almost immediately; everything I did in 2021 was a commission to paint […]

Hunt for the Jersey Devil Pt.2: Waylaid Plans and a Hunts End

by Dr. Schemes on December 20, 2019December 21, 2019

So at Nova I was told of a fairly new painting competition called the Jersey Devil being held in Succasunna, New Jersey at Mythicos Studios. I was in a good mood after getting a gold medal at the Capital Palette I resolved to enter the Jersey Devil. I had planned to enter Joan, a flyer […]

Put some work into the display base for my piece, I feel like I need to up the contrast and go brighter before I apply an oil wash to it. Only so many hours in the day to do all the things.
Got some decent work done on the display base for my Capital Palette entry. I have two of the minis and the other one is all cleaned up, primed and zenithal highlighted already. Hoping to prime the base, highlight it and start getting some colors down so it can inform my paint scheme for the witch king
I LIVE!!! After dealing with a lot of personal stuff I finally feel like I'm in a good place to hobby and finally finished my last squad of outriders. Now it's on to my competition piece for the Capital Palette at Nova
About time I get back on the wagon, been playing too much Monster Hunter Rise on top of going through some medical stuff. Gonna finish up these primaris bikers and work on the Nova open entries, starting with the bases
Completely forgot I finished this guy. I had to push myself to finish because I wasn't super into the sculpt and it was a lot of fiddling with paint at the end. Glamor shots will come soon but over all I can say I'm happy he's done.
Did a quick speed paint of the cadian pug as a gift for someone and they were very pleased with it Tried a bunch of new things for the base in preparation for my competition pieces while I was at it.
